“I’m feeling SO burnt out from the summer with the kids. I love them, but I need to find ways to prioritize myself again, and I have no idea where to start. Please help!”

We feel you! 

We’re also feeling burnt out from a relatively chaotic summer and are ready to dig deeper into prioritizing ourselves again.

Something that has helped the two of us is… and here’s our actionable tip of the week…

✅ Creating a self-care plan.

You can think of it like building a roadmap that will help you carve out time and space for yourself to do the things you want (and need) to do to recharge.

Let’s be real, if you don’t intentionally take action to build a plan, then nothing will happen.

So yeah, if you feel exhausted, irritable, and just a general sense of “blahness”... then you’re burnt out.

The self-care plan is the intervention you need to help you fill your own cup and better show up as the calm and playful parent that you want to be.

Now, creating a self-care plan should involve the following:

  1. Identifying your needs.
  2. Setting realistic goals.
  3. Tapping into physical, emotional, and social care.
  4. Scheduling it!

For example, Greg takes morning walks in the woods and Jenilee does barre classes. Greg journals daily and Jenilee makes time to read.

We collaborate and share our plans so we can support each other's goals.

3. From our toolkit

 

Our workshop, ‘Regulated Parenting: Find, Maintain, and Share Your Calm,’ will guide you through 6 actionable steps to create a personalized self-care plan.

 

 

You'll learn how to start putting your self-care plan into practice right away, carving out the time you desperately need (and deserve) to recharge and show up as your best self (or at least a "better" self).

But developing your self-care plan is just ONE of the many activities in this workshop.

You'll also go through our Trigger Mind Map activity that will help you identify and manage your triggers so you can move throughout the day at a lower emotional temperature.
